Condition Three Carry Is A Bad Idea

Condition Three Carry Is A Bad Idea

Every once in awhile, I’ll meet someone who still carries their defensive firearm with a magazine inserted, but no round in the chamber.

Let’s be clear, this is a bad idea. We will not be to dictate what my happen in a fight for our lives, and carrying without a round in the chamber means you’ve already sketched out in your mind how your defensive encounter is going to happen. You know that you’ll have both hands free when it happens. You know your attacker will be far enough away that you can get a full firing grip on your gun with both hands. You know that the extra seconds needed to chamber a round in your gun won’t make a difference in the gun battle.

That seems to be an awful lot of assumptions to justify carrying your pistol in a way it’s not supposed to be carried.

Modern pistols are designed to be carried with a round in the chamber and all safeties engaged. Every single one of them. And no, I don’t care if the Israeli Army or the Sengalese Army or the Leprechaun Liberation Army does it differently. I’m not in those armies, I’m me.
