DESCRIPTION:Low Light Defensive Encounters\n6pm Saturday\, December 13 at Deep50 Range\n“There’s no such thing as ‘street crime’ for the armed citizen\, rather\, there’s only ‘parking lot crime’.” – Tom Givens \nNighttime and other low light situations limit our ability to spot trouble before it becomes a problem for us. This is just one of the many reasons why crooks use it to their advantage\, and prey on innocent people under the cloak of darkness.  \nUnfortunately\, there are a lot of myths around how a low light environment works for and against those who would do us harm. The vast majority of low light instruction comes from a military or law enforcement background\, using techniques which may or may not be applicable to the armed citizen.  \nThis class\, however\, is designed to give the armed citizen the knowledge and skills they need to come out on top of an encounter in an urban low light environment.  \nTopics covered will include:  \n\nDifferent types of lighting environments and how they affect our vision\nLow light vs no light: Which is more common for the armed citizen?\nGear choices for when it gets dark \nNight sights\, weapon lights\, lasers and red dots \nDefensive flashlight techniques \nDefensive pistol use in a low light environment \n\n \nMandatory training requirements for this class.  \n\nCompletion of at least six hours of post-concealed carry class training\nAbility to draw a pistol from a holster and safely re-holster using one hand\nConstant and consistent application of the four rules of gun safety\n\nGear requirements for this class \n\nA modern\, semi-automatic pistol in 9mm or greater caliber with or without a weapon-mounted light attached \nAt least three magazines for your pistol\nA belt magazine pouch \nA secure and stable gun belt \nA safe and comfortable OWB (outside the waistband) holster for your pistol (IWB and concealed carry ONLY with instructor permission)\nA headlamp flashlight with a red lens and white light\nA bright (300 lumens or greater) tactical flashlight with a tail-mounted activation switch\n200 rounds of FMJ ammunition \nOptional: A rifle\, pistol caliber carbine or shotgun with a weapon-mounted light and 50 rounds of ammunition (rifle/PCC) or 20 rounds of birdshot (shotgun)\nBug spray\, water\, range gear. \n\nClass will be approximately 4-5 hours long and will be held at the Deep50 Gun Range.  \nSpread The Word:ShareFacebookEmailTwitter

After class\, you’ll receive a drill that you can use to further hone your skills at your next range session.  \nThese classes are designed to maximize your training time and resources and put you on a path to lifetime enjoyment of the shooting sports and safely enjoy the armed lifestyle.  \n\nPrerequisites: A valid concealed carry license or equivalent\nGear Needed: See below\nClass Date: Saturday\, February 23rd\, 1pm\nClass Location: Deep50 Range\n\nThe Cadre Session Six: Becoming A Shot Caller Encore\nThe final Cadre Session will coalesce everything that’s come before and push you to do even better. The previous five sessions have been about developing your pistol skills so that the process of grip\, stance\, sights and trigger happen automatically\, speeding up your shooting and allowing your brain to handle other problems.  \nIn Session Six\, we put it all together\, and have you shoot the FBI Pistol Qualification\, one of the more-demanding pistol qualifications out there.  \nGear Requirements:  \n\nA pistol (9mm/38 Special or larger caliber)\nA spare magazine \nAt least 200 rounds of ammo. The FBI qual takes 50 rounds\, and we’ll be shooting it twice\nA cover garment such as light jacket or oversized t-shirt \nA holster suitable for concealed carry. Please do not bring a Blackhawk! After class\, you’ll receive a drill that you can use to further hone your skills at your next range session.  \nThese classes are designed to maximize your training time and resources and put you on a path to lifetime enjoyment of the shooting sports and safely enjoy the armed lifestyle.  \nThe Cadre Session Five: Well This Is Awkward\n\nPrerequisites: A valid concealed carry license or equivalent\nGear Needed: See below\nClass Date: Saturday\, February 8th\, 9am\nClass Location: Deep50 Range\n\nIt’s relatively easy to hit your target when you’re standing in one place\, using both hands to hold your pistol with no distractions around you. If you haven’t noticed\, though\, a shooting range and the real world bear little resemblance to each other. In the real world\, there are people in the way\, or you may need to move in order to get your shot. Worse still\, you may have the use of just one hand if you need to make the shot\, and it may not be your dominant hand.  \nThis class gets you out of your comfort zone and teaches you how to deal with things like one-handed shooting\, shooting from around cover and dealing with crowds.  \nAll of the Cadre Sessions are less than three hours long and require fewer than 100 rounds of ammo. Class size will be topped at just six people to allow plenty of opportunities for 1-1 instruction.  \nGear Requirements:  \n\nA pistol (9mm/38 Special or larger caliber)\nA spare magazine \nA cover garment such as light jacket or oversized t-shirt \nA holster suitable for concealed carry. Not an actual accident\, but rather\, one that you were able to avoid. How did you do that? Did you ever\, at some point\, think to yourself\, “Oh my goodness\, that car just ran a red light. I need to take my foot off the gas\, move it to the left and apply it with all my might to the brake pedal!”  \nNo\, of course you didn’t\, you just did it. You did it because when it comes to defensive driving\, you have automaticity.
