New Acquisitions

Two new guns have made their way into my possession.

The first is a Glock 44, an almost exact duplicate of the 9mm Glock 19, but in 22LR. This a both a terrific idea and a terrific little gun. Loaded with 10+1 of either Federal Punch or CCI MiniMags, it’s a viable alternative to carrying a larger caliber handgun for people who just cannot deal with the recoil or gun manipulations of a centerfire pistol. The other really useful thing about this gun will be for my training classes. It’s the perfect gun for people who have shot before, but aren’t used to shooting a full sized defensive carry pistol.

The second is a Ruger LCR in 38 Special. I have essentially zero time with snub-nosed revolvers. I chose to go with a little 380 auto as my pocket gun, so this is terra incognito for me. My first impression is that the recoil seems a bit more obnoxious with this little gun than with my Ruger LCPII, but I really think it’s a slightly more accurate gun to shoot than that little 380. The longer, stiffer trigger pull forces me to keep a good sight picture throughout the trigger press, which means I think I should (SHOULD be able to shoot a clean 5×5 with it in a few weeks.
