Ants In Your Stance
A poor stance is one of the easiest things to spot on the range. If someone is standing awkwardly when shooting their gun, it stands out like a sore thumb. It’s also one of the easiest things for a new shooter to correct. A little shuffling of the feet, a little twist of the hips, and BINGO, you’re a tactical operator.
It’s also one of the most over-rated elements of pistol accuracy. Because it’s so easy to spot and so easy to correct, I see trainer after trainer spend HOURS on the range, showing their students how to perfect their preferred method of range kata.
Kata, though, only works in the martial arts studio, and the same is true for a picture-perfect range stance.
