Well That Felt Good
Just came home from teaching the classroom portion of my Florida concealed carry class, and for the first time ever, I really felt I nailed laying out the reasons why you want to carry your gun everyday and some of the ways you can accomplish that goal.
This has been a burr under my saddle for a long time, ever since Karl Rehn did his “Beyond the One Percent” lecture at TacCon. It’s why I started teaching, because while many instructors stressed the need to get training beyond a concealed carry permit, very few of them were doing it in a way that made sense to their students. They assume that their students are hobbyists just like they are and want to take classes for the sheer love of training.
In this class, I was able to appeal to other emotions and motivations (having fun, self-esteem) as a reason for more training, and I think it worked. All I know is, I presented the case for going out and getting more training better than I have in the past.
Let’s see if it worked.
